Mayor and Council Office Budgets

Colleagues,

Earlier today, at the Audit & Finance Committee meeting, I gave a brief presentation on potential reforms to the use of Mayor and Council Office Budgets https://services.austintexas.gov/edims/ ... ?id=463448. Following my presentation, we heard comments and feedback from several Council Members. If any Council Members have additional ideas they'd like to share, please add them in this thread.

As I mentioned this morning, we want this process to be expeditious but thoughtful, and I invite all Council Members to share their input, regardless of whether they sit on the Audit & Finance Committee.

Working with staff from Financial Services and the City Attorney's Office, I will share a draft policy with the Council by December 19. This will give us time over the holiday to review and bring back additional recommendations, which we'll discuss at the next Audit & Finance Committee meeting on January 14. Then, the Committee will present updates to the full Council at the Council Meeting on January 22.
