Continuing Missing Middle & Mixed-Use

Post by Julie Montgomery »

Colleagues,

I wanted to let you all know I am working with Planning and Law staff to bring a code amendment initiation resolution to create the new Missing Middle and Mixed-Use zoning districts recommended in the recent staff memo and study:
https://services.austintexas.gov/edims/ ... ?id=466991

As the lead sponsor of Site Plan Lite (Ellis 2022), an original cosponsor of HOME (Pool 2023), the ETOD Policy Plan (Harper-Madison 2021), Single Stair (Vela 2024), and Neighborhood Coffee Shops (R. Alter 2025), I am eager and excited to get these long-needed code amendments underway to make it easier to build missing middle housing and mixed-use developments. We know these kinds of buildings are critical to reaching our affordability, mobility, equity, and environmental goals and unlocking Imagine Austin’s vision of a compact and connected city.

If you would like to join me as a cosponsor on this resolution, please feel free to reply below or let my Chief of Staff Julie Montgomery know.

Best,
Paige

On behalf of CM Ellis
Chief of Staff
Office of Council Member Paige Ellis, District 8
