Council Work Session 5/20/25

Council—
Before tomorrow’s Work Session and the Austin Energy Oversight Committee meeting, I wanted to share a schedule outlining how we plan to conduct the meeting.

Tomorrow, I will be participating virtually, as will Mayor Pro Tem Fuentes. So, Council Member Vela will chair tomorrow’s Work Session.

In consultation with CM Vela, we will start the Work Session with public comment. Speakers will have 2 minutes per item. Speakers may donate time, but must coordinate with the City Clerk before being called. All parties (speakers and donors) must be present in person to be eligible for a donation of time.

Staff will then present their recommendations to Council on pulled items 41, 42, and 43, which will be followed by a presentation from the Downtown Austin Alliance. These items are all related to the IH 35 Cap and Stitch.

Following Council discussion, we will then adjourn the Work Session and open the Austin Energy Oversight Committee meeting and take up the items on the committee agenda.

I look forward to a productive conversation tomorrow before Thursday’s Council meeting.
