A message from Council Member Pool:
Colleagues,
In light of ongoing efforts to ban books in Texas, this week I am bringing an IFC to support the American Library Association’s "Freedom To Read" initiative, as well as amplify the excellent work undertaken by the Austin Library Commission and Austin Public Library to stand up for our freedom to read. Item 86 denounces book banning, and states our support for the materials-selection methodology utilized by APL. Thank you to co-sponsors MPT Alter and CMs Fuentes, Tovo, and Harper-Madison; I want to extend an invitation to all of you to co-sponsor and join me in this important effort.
Now let's go read some banned books!
Here is a link to the resolution, Item 86 on this week's agenda.
