Finalize Council Budget Development process

Council Member colleagues,

Attached is the presentation I provided on June 1 concerning a proposed Council budget development process. At our June 1 meeting we discussed the process and identified 6 decision points remaining to proceed in implementing this process.

These are the 6 areas we need to finalize:

1. Agreement on August 22nd as the cutoff to consider budget concepts.
2. Agreement that there shall a one week period for budget concept submittals after receiving the City Manager’s budget on July 27th without the need for additional Council co-sponsors.
3. After August 2, agreement that Council submitted budget concepts shall require a sponsor and 3 co-sponsors or alternatively a different number of sponsors.
4. Agreement that a vote of six (or some other number, tbd) is needed to remove a listed concept.
5. Agreement that voting at each work session will occur to move concepts forward for discussion.
6. Agreement that a standardized form will be used to submit concepts to be included on the concept menu.

I look forward to finalizing our budget development process on Tuesday, June 21.
