Proposal for AE GM selection
Posted: Thu Apr 28, 2016 3:24 pm
Colleagues, here is a draft proposal to create a citizens panel to provide community input on the important decision of who will be the next General Manager for Austin Energy.
The Mayor will discuss this idea with City Manager and report back on the outcomes of the discussion.
......
Create a Citizens Advisory Panel (members to be nominated by council members) to include appointees from the following groups:
a) Residential Austin Energy customers
b) Small commercial Austin Energy customers
c) Large commercial and industrial Austin Energy customers
d) Low-income Austin Energy customers
e) Environmental advocates
f) Electric Utility Commission (EUC)
g) Resource Management Commission (RMC)
The Panel would interview and research the candidates identified on the City Manager’s short list and review other candidates not on the City Manager’s short list for consideration and provide advice to Council. The Panel may also request information used by the City Manager’s office or the personnel search firm to evaluate candidates.
The Panel will provide feedback and recommendations to the City Manager and to the City Council by June 17, 2016, and present its recommendations at the June 21, 2016, Austin City Council work session.
The Panel will dissolve upon the hiring of a new Austin Energy General Manager.
......
Your input is welcome, too.
Regards,
Leslie
