Community homelessness meeting

Colleagues,

Homelessness is a challenge throughout Austin, and it is uniquely critical in parts of District 5.

The area surrounding the Sunrise Navigation Center has experienced and continues to experience a large amount of activity related to individuals experiencing homelessness, and my office has spoken with many neighbors about their concerns. In response to these conversations, my office is organizing a community meeting to discuss the efforts the City is making to address homelessness, to hear from the neighbors, and discuss how we can provide these necessary services across the City.

I am grateful for CM Fuentes, CM Qadri, CM Velasquez, and the Homeless Strategy Office for joining this discussion, and I invite all interested to attend as well. If you are able to do so, please reply to this message and/or let my staff know so that we can be prepared and post the meeting publicly, if necessary.
