Item 50 - parkland condemnations

Colleagues,

Tomorrow I am bringing an amendment to Item 50 (parkland condemnations) to strengthen transparency and council oversight over this process. Specifically, my amendment would:

- strengthen council oversight overall,
- change the duration an impacted park would be governed by this policy from 5 years to 1 year,
- change the required deadline for notifying relevant boards and commissions from 90 to 60 days, and
- change the value of a park that this policy would apply to from $500,000 to $250,000

Collectively, these improvements will increase our ability to protect and maintain parkland facing condemnations.
